Blog Week, Volume 2
So you’ve gotten your blog/website all set up. But now the question is to know when, what, and how often to post, right? This is all a completely personal decision.
When I started out blogging, I was blogging 5 or more days per week. They weren’t always quality posts, but I loved posting so much that I just felt I always had so much to say. These days, on my personal blog, I’m striving for 1 day per week and even that doesn’t always happen since I’m so busy with H&L.
The key is to be as consistent as possible. For example, because I only blog once a week, I try to always make that day a Tuesday. Again, it doesn’t always happen, but it’s the thought that counts, right?! :)
As to what you should post - decide what type of blog you want. Do you want to talk about motherhood? Do you want to write poetry? Do you want to write about fashion or world events? Pick out a few topics that you really love to write about and start generating a list of different posts you could write based on these topics.
If you’re just starting out, don’t put too much pressure on yourself here. Write about what you love. Take the time to find your voice. Lots of blog articles will tell you to niche down immediately and decide to only write on one or two topics. But I love blogs that have variety to them and if that is your jam, then do it.
Just start. That is most important.
And if you already have a blog but haven’t written on it in awhile, do the same thing - just write. Come back and just write a post. And then another one. You don’t owe anyone an explanation for your absence. It might be a little harder to build your momentum back up, but you’ll get there. Just keep writing. The readers will come.
